Necessary Weather
Necessary Weather
31 × 36 inches | Mixed Media on 300 lb. Watercolor Paper | Reiki-Infused | Unframed Original
There are storms that destroy, and there are storms that clear the air.
Sometimes, from inside one, we cannot yet tell which kind we are standing in.
Necessary Weather was created in the midst of one of those seasons—when grief, anger, clarity, liberation, loneliness and an unexpected sense of being held were all moving through at once. When something long believed to be solid began to shift, and the emotional atmosphere could no longer contain everything that had been gathering there.
Across this expansive work, deep indigo, violet, smoky blue and shadowed gray churn and collide, while luminous gold breaks unexpectedly through the darkness. The pigments pool, bloom, retreat and rush forward again, creating something that feels less like a landscape than an entire weather system caught in motion.
There is turbulence here.
But there is also light.
Gold flashes through the storm like lightning—not enough to erase the darkness, but enough to remind us that darkness was never the whole sky.
Because some storms are necessary.
There are moments when the pressure must break. When the truth must finally be spoken. When relationships, identities, beliefs and stories we have carried for years can no longer remain exactly as they were. The atmosphere changes, and suddenly everything that has been suspended above us begins to fall.
It can feel terrifying.
It can also feel like freedom.
Necessary Weather lives inside that complicated threshold—the place where we are grieving what has been lost while recognizing what has been released. Where we can feel profoundly alone and extraordinarily supported. Where the breaking apart of an illusion becomes, unexpectedly, the beginning of something more honest.
The storm is not portrayed here as punishment or catastrophe. It is movement. Release. Reckoning. The natural consequence of an atmosphere that has become too full to remain still.
And somewhere inside all that tumult, the blue returns.
The gold returns.
The sky remains.
Created as a large-scale, Reiki-infused original on heavyweight watercolor paper, Necessary Weather will be offered unframed, allowing its future collector the freedom to choose a presentation that belongs within their own space.
A piece for anyone who has ever stood inside a season of upheaval and wondered whether everything was falling apart—only to discover that perhaps something was finally being cleared away.
