Boundary is an exploration of what happens when we finally understand that protecting our peace does not require us to harden our hearts.
The painting is filled with movement. Watery layers of blue, periwinkle, violet, turquoise, and smoky indigo drift into one another, interrupted by luminous cream and warm flashes of metallic gold. There is softness everywhere—color bleeding into color, organic forms appearing and disappearing, edges dissolving almost as quickly as they emerge.
And then, through the center, a dark line.
Clear. Strong. Unmistakable.
It divides the composition without severing it. The movement continues on either side. The softness remains. The light remains. Nothing beautiful has been lost simply because a boundary has appeared.
Perhaps that is the lesson.
A boundary does not have to stop the flow. It gives the flow somewhere safe to exist.
There are seasons when we learn to accommodate almost anything. We stretch ourselves around other people's needs, emotions, expectations, disappointments, and desires. We confuse being loving with being endlessly available. We make ourselves permeable because we are afraid that saying no will somehow diminish the generosity of our yes.
Until eventually, something within us asks for a line.
Not a wall.
Not punishment.
Not rejection.
A line.
This is where I end and you begin.
There is profound tenderness in knowing that distinction.
Boundary honors the moment we realize that we can remain loving without remaining endlessly accessible. We can be compassionate without absorbing everything around us. We can protect what is sacred within ourselves without closing ourselves to the beauty of connection.
In fact, sometimes it is the boundary that allows the beauty to remain.
As with every Heart Space Studio original, Boundary was created intuitively and infused with Reiki energy, carrying the intention of discernment, self-trust, protection, sovereignty, and the courage to honor our own limits.
